Stephen Bonner has spent his career breaking through the impossible and redefining what is possible in healthcare. A nationally recognized innovator and strategist, he is widely regarded as a master of shifting paradigms—transforming organizations, empowering patients, and inspiring the leaders who will shape the future of care.
As former President and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America (1999–2014), Stephen pioneered a revolutionary model of integrated oncology, combining traditional cancer care with evidence-based holistic therapies such as nutrition, psychological support, spiritual care, naturopathy, and exercise. Under his leadership, CTCA published more than 200 scientific abstracts, proving the measurable impact of whole-person care. This work positioned him as one of the most forward-thinking leaders in modern healthcare. In 2012, Modern Healthcare recognized him as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.
Today, Stephen continues to push boundaries as CEO of SkinIO, advisor to multiple private equity firms, board member of leading healthcare innovators, and angel investor across more than 20 health companies. His unique experience at the intersection of patient-centered care, business strategy, and health technology makes him an indispensable voice on transformation in healthcare systems.
Equally influential in academia, Stephen has served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Harvard Business School’s Rock Center for Entrepreneurship and as a member of the teaching team for the MBA course “Innovation in Health Care.” He continues to mentor future leaders on advancing health policy and innovation—bringing decades of real-world experience into the classroom.
