Are You Ready for Extreme Nursing?

We are launching an entirely new understanding of what’s possible for nurses.
Our Saturday, November 21 keynote speaker at Chrysalis 2026 Miami is Dr. Glenn Barnes—a nurse, former U.S. Army Green Beret, wilderness medicine leader, and visionary expanding the boundaries of where nurses can go and what they can do.
With more than 35 years of nursing experience and 28 years of military and civilian overseas contracting, Dr. Barnes brings extraordinary experience to an extraordinary mission: preparing nurses to deliver care in extreme environments—and ultimately, in space.
As Clinical Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for Texas A&M University’s developing Extreme Environment Nursing Program, he is helping prepare nurses for conditions many of us have never imagined. His career has taken him from tactical medicine and wilderness care to Afghanistan, where he helped establish the country’s first BSN program.

What becomes possible when we stop defining nursing by the walls of a hospital?
Dr. Barnes challenges us to think bigger about our profession, our capabilities, and our future. Listening to him can shift the way you see your life—and your career.
Power Up Nursing is proud and honored to welcome him. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kendra Seiler, CommHIT, and the Nursing Action Coalition of Florida for helping make this possible.
